Today in Japan Microsoft held their Xbox 360 Premiere Press Conference. Despite the system’s faltering sales overseas, the event showed that it has the strong third-party developer backing to be the forerunner of this generation of consoles. Take a look to see what’s headed our way after the jump!

One of the biggest surprises (upsets?) of the event was the choice of platform for Square Enix’s Star Ocean 4, now given the subtitle “The Last Hope.” Instead of being PS3-exclusive as was originally assumed by most, Square-Enix has chosen Star Ocean 4 to be an Xbox 360 Exclusive title. Whether or not it’s a true exclusive title or just a timed exclusive has yet to be said. What will set this game apart is the setting. Rather than being on some underdeveloped planet for the majority of the game despite the game taking place in the far future, in Star Ocean 4 the game’s settings will have a much heavier Science-Fiction emphasis and feature planet-hopping space travel. The game is set for a 2009 release.

More big news came from Namco-Bandai regarding their Xbox 360 exclusive, Tales of Vesperia. Sporting a beefed up graphics engine similar to the one used in Eternal Sonata, the game will feature the frenzy of a battle system we’ve come to know and love from this series. Along with the game release will come a special Tales of Vesperia Xbox 360 featuring the game, a face plate, the game’s script, and a 20GB 360 model.

Namco-Bandai Japan seems to be working very closely with their US branch for this game’s release. First off is the proximity of the game’s street dates. At the event Namco-Bandai gave the game an August 7th release date in Japan, but also made a note to say that the game will be coming out in North America in August as well (although no exact date was given). The game’s opening song, sung by Bonnie Pink, will also get an English recording. Before you clench your teeth and brace for bad vocals, take heart that the English track will also be sung by Bonnie Pink Furthermore, this will be the frist Tales game released stateside to feature fully voiced skits. No longer will there be awkward silences as you read through skit text.

A demo is set to hit the Xbox Live Marketplace “before the end of June.” Further Tales Fanaticism is also spawning an official Tales Magazine in Japan starting with it’s first issue published alongside Vesperia.

Infinite Undisocovery received some attention with a new trailer and a demonstration of the game’s battle system. They also announced a near-simultaneous release schedule. The game is set to hit Japanese and Asian store shelves in September 11th. The game ships to North America 9/2 and Europe 9/5.

Not much was revealed about Square-Enix’s other RPG other than its release schedule. Previously thought to have a completely simultaneous worldwide release, S-E instead announced that it will have a simultaneous worldwide Xbox 360 release with the PS3 version following sometime afterwards. The Xbox 360 worldwide release is slated for December.

The rest of the conference was mainly discussing titles either North America already has or already has lots of info on like Mass Effect and Fable 2.

We’d almost call this “too many great games” coming out at once, but we all know there’s no such thing! All that’s left is the waiting game.

Looks like some more games i’ll be missing out on. After my last one died, i refuse to waste my money on another 360. If a stupid system can’t last for more then 18 months, then what’s the point of it existing?

And i don’t know if it’s just me, but Last Remnant looks like the most impressive of the batch. Just cause its story looks so epic. At least that’s coming out on the ps3.

Was it a problem covered by that new 3-year warranty? I made sure to save the receipt for mine once that was announced, and so far it’s lasted me over a year without any problems.

Nope, wasn’t the 3 red rings. So i’m was pretty much screwed (i even tried all the methods to KILL the 360 and force red rings… but nothing worked)

Maybe if i’m bored of everything, and MS fixes all the horrid issues with the console… i MAY rebuy one when star ocean comes out.

a console is succesful and good when its FUNCTIONAL. So, as long as the red ring’s inherent deffect pops along, the 360 is the biggest warranty flop ever in my opinion.
