Wired does Doujinshi

bridget.jpgWired has published an article which takes you on a concise and personal literary trip through the Otome and Otaku culture, taking special interest in Doujinshi. They seem to be fascinated by the whole Yaoi / Yuri deal and the free use of commercial characters. Oh and:

If and when Japan does become a major exporter of its unique brand of “cool,” I hope it will preserve and export the doujinshi ethic as well. Perhaps America needs to learn more than the difference between Doremon and Pokémon. We need a new way of looking at creativity that borrows and builds on the work of others.

No, I can see it now, Ganguro and Mamba’s all over the world! The world will collapse from lack of fake tan.
