Apparently Nintendo held a briefing today where Satoru Iwata announced that the shipping date for the Nintendo Wii, at least in japan, would be announced in September (space world, anyone?). When Nintendo said at E3 that the Wii would be released in the 4th quarter of 2006 most of the press believed November or December to be the months. Still, with the global launch window Nintendo had previously stated the American release could be perfectly synchronized with the holidays.
Nintendo also discussed the use of the DS with the Wii saying that, beyond being able to download demos to your DS, you would be able to use it as a touchscreen controller for certain Wii games. On Virtual Console news, Iwata announced that the games would be priced at 500 to 1000 yes which translates to roughly 4 to 8 dollars.
Iwata also stated that Nintendo plans to sell the Wii at a loss, more evidence to support a price below the $200 line.
