Vocaloid 2: The Jpop Generator

Jpop is formulaic and predictable, that is a pretty common fact, we still love it and it may in fact be an advantage… of sorts. Take Vocaloid 2 for example, a piece of software that takes advantage of Yamaha’s voice synthesizer technology of the same name and lets you produce Jpop, custom with whatever lyrics and cliched melody you want, all in the voice of a virtual 17 year old Jpop idol, cue raging Idolm@aster fans. The results are pretty damn impressive, I’m just unsure if that’s a compliement to technology or an insult to Jpop.
