After much speculation and secrecy Valve has finally announced it’s much anticipated take on the DOTA Mod for Warcraft 3. A year after hiring one of the key developers of the project, who simply goes by the nickname of Icefrog, Valve has announced DOTA 2, a sequel to the RPG / tower defense hybrid which will release sometime during 2011. Gameinformer got the exclusive scoop on the game and how Valve is doing everything it can to keep what is a famously hostile game to new and casual players as accessible as possible.
A huge and very interesting task, but not as interesting as waiting to see how Heroes of Newerth and League of Legends, both spin-off full tittles from DOTA, will react to Valve entering the ring with all its weight. And no, for oce, that’s not a joke on Gabe’s weight.
