UK Says No To Samurai Swords

Well it seems after the mysterious samurai incident in the UK a couple of months ago, the UK government has wised up to these sword wielding heroes. The UK government is preparing a ban on samurai swords, that is the cheap knockoffs rather than the real deal. The ban, which could be in effect before the end of the year, would punish offenders with up to six months in jail and a £5000. Ouch.. The reason behind this proposed ban is precisely the recent rise in assaults (wether for good or bad) with these rather sharp imitations. This quote from Home Office Minister Vernon Coaker makes life seem just a tab more interesting.
Public safety is our greatest priority. Samurai sword crime is low in volume but high in profile and I recognize it can have a devastating impact. Banning the sale, import and hire will take more dangerous weapons out of circulation, making our streets safer.
Its the year 2007, the future, and we have to worry about katana crimes. How cool is that?

This borders in the ridicule (both the fact that people wield them and the fact that they prohibit them) alas, there are a quite a lot of morr0ns out there who still think that using a sword and “making” something (justice, crime, you name it…) is the epitome of coolness, manlyness, awesomeness and everything that ends in “-ness”. I don’t think this affects in a serious manner the liberties of people at UK, since without them, they wont have to fear that someone gets over-excited and goes banzai (sorry) slashing the hades out of mostly everything (and finding out that the edge of the blade or the whole thing dulled when they hit something harder than their boneheads)
Hahahaha, well thats the thing, most of these cheap swords have no edge at all. Velcor has a set, they are better described as giant steel rods than a sword. Still, a hit to the head with one of those and youre down.
