Turn Your Wii Into A Media Center With Wii Media
Tuesday 13 May 2008 @ 11:47 am | By Ivan 'Nahu' Lozano 7 CommentsStill bugged the Wii lacks any media capabilities? Well the buzzing Wii Homebrew scene has the answer! A recently released application called Wii Media borrows a page from XBMC, the famous Xbox media center software, in turning your Wii into a functional media center, being able to play audio and video from an SD card as well as listening to ShoutCast radio online.
This is just the first release of Wii Media, V.01 so don’t expect it to be perfect by any measure. The project is set to go open source after the base code is cleaned up which should speed up development and who knows, in 6 months or so your Wii could be a mean, lean, media machine.

wow, it can READ off an SD card? why can’t the wii make things like this (for wiiware, etc)?
For a fleeting second I thought it would enable the Wii to have dvd playback.
and in the end, its still limited to a 2 gig SD Card
For now, as the hacking of the wii progresses we might find ourselves able to connect a HDD via USB or something, or stream it from your PC.
Hopefully connect my 240 gig external and play all my virtual console games on it to make more room for other Wiiware.
i have my 1tb hard drive usb connected to my wii and i watch my dvd movies that way
How you did it? What is the way you watch your movies saved on HDD?
