Top 100 anime of Japan

TV Asahi has recently published a list of Japan’s top 100 favorite anime, which was created by an open poll on the station’s website. The list varies quite a bit with last year’s; most notably the exclusion or descend of some cult classics. The top 10 contains more recent series than last year.
Neon Genesis Evangelion is up considerably this year and thats likely because of the rebirth of the series. I cant really say we’ve watched all but 30+ of the listed titles, Velcor has probably watched most of it. This could become a nice Otaku challenge just like watching the top 100 films on IMDB. Cool, “The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya” is in the list. I wouldnt say its the best anime there is but its awesome. ^-^

Some strange entrys in this list, as expectet of japanese otakus. Others like fruits basket are surprisingly low. Oh well.

I’d recommend Shakugan no Shana (both seasons, I think a third is coming up) and also Zero no Tsukaima (if I got that wrong I’m sorry I finished it very long ago; it isn’t that popular among people so it may not be good for you.)

I agree. TTGL was really good, although the fact that the main characters never lose and always trample the enemy gets boring after awhile.

animecrazy.net has plenty of very good rated anime. It’s not biased like these lists because the standings for the anime are based on a formula and the anime’s ratings from the viewers.
I just can’t believe that Code Geass: Lelouch of The Rebellion and R2 (second season) is not up there. I do see some of my personal favorites like Shana and Fate/Stay Night on the list although FSN isn’t that high. In my opinion a lot of the anime on the list are overrated (I am not going to mention which as I will be criticize for my opinion.)
I just noticed when the list was made, so Code Geass would not have been up there since it was released on the 5th of October in 2006. Excuse me for my blindness.
