Well, after 11 years, four redesigns, and numerous series, Cartoon Network has removed Toonami from it’s Friday night programming, replacing it with a new one-hour block featuring The Clone Wars and some other show about cryptids or some crap. The above video is the final broadcast from Toonami, in which Steven Blum, (The voice of TOM and of Spike Spiegel from Cowboy Bebop) says goodbye to the viewers, ending it with his famous final line from Cowboy Bebop: "Bang".
Seeing as how I grew up watching this set of shows, today is one of the sadder days in my life. Toonami introduced me to anime. I remember first seeing Outlaw Star and loving it to death. Even though the block was in a decline over the last few months, it’s still sad to see the block that brought so many people into the world of anime die off just because it wasn’t as popular as it once was. Thankfully, the kind people over at Mogulus have a Toonami Channel up, and are streaming classic episodes of Outlaw Star, Dragonball Z, Sailor Moon, and more.
According to Wikipedia, Toonami Jetstream, Toonami’s online streaming service, will remain on-line. However, they will drop the Toonami name from the front. No word has been made on whether or not the programming will change.

Bang.
I’d like to invite everyone to post their favorite memories of Toonami in the comments here.
I must say that my favorite memory of Toonami was the fact that it gave me something to look forward to when I got home on days when people gave me crap at school. I have to thank you Toonami, for cheering me up with my favorite programs during the weekdays and helping form more than a few fond memories from my childhood.
Outlaw Star on toonami was the same way i got into anime
Man, the cancellation of Toonami is crap; it just makes me so nostalgic for my childhood, the idea of saying goodbye to it is painful.
Outlaw Star was a definite fave, but also waiting for DBZ to come on and catching snippets of Sailor Moon beforehand. Oh and of course Trigun and such, oooh, good stuff.
oh lol, outlaw star your first anime plus through toonami? what a horrible memory imo.
toonami can go and die for all i care. Less dubbed outlaw star and dragonball is more better programming.
I always remember never having it my house, but my uncle had it at his. I think what happened was that he got Cartoon Network because he had a cable box, and I didn’t. So every time I went over to his house, I watched Speed Racer and Space Ghost. I was 7 at the time.
I guess my favorite memory of toonami was always how i would come home from elementary and do my homework quickly so I could watch Sailor Moon and Dragon Ball z. The fact that Toonami was cancelled makes me feel like I just saw a part of my childhood disappear and it makes me depressed. But oh well I’ll always have those good memories…

I remember when Toonami first aired, I had never seen anime before then and Robotech blew me away. I’ve been an anime fan ever since. It’s hard to believe that it’s gone now, guess its up to the internet to introduce future generations to anime.
I remember when Toonami used to air shows like Ronin Warriors and when it first started out it used to air Thundercats…Toonami gave me a reason to watch Cartoon Network
“Friday night”? You mean “Saturday night”.
However, I’m going to miss it. I’ve uploaded a video in its memory.
