The Rumor That Will Not Die: MGS4 on the Xbox 360
Tuesday 14 October 2008 @ 6:43 pm | By tskiller 6 CommentsWell, i thought we had heard the last of this, but it seems the Tokyo Game Show has brought this rumor to surface again. Yoshitaka Arai, the public relations head for Konami was heard telling the Japanese investor bulletin "Morningstar" the following:
"The worldwide demand for an Xbox 360 version (of MGS4) is quite high, and it is something we are currently looking in to."
Sounds like things are still hopeful for us Xbox fans out there, and I’m sure any fan of the series would love to see more people get the opportunity to play it. Will it ever come to fruition? Only time will tell, but keep your eyes pealed!

I have been on the fence of whether to buy an XBox 360 or a PS3, and I have been leaning heavily toward 360; this game is one of very few thing making me consider the PS3. If this game gets a 360 release, that’s it. Im buyin’ an XBox,
I;m planning on buying the PS3 since I can do dual purpose with Blu-ray. That’s really the only reason. I tend to enjoy the xbox360 games more and the library is bigger.
I’m just curious how much of the game they’d have to ‘dumb down’ to put it on the 360. Either that, or we’d be looking at 3+ discs. Maybe a disc per act.
It’ll probably take alot of engineering to make a good port to 360. Anyway, I wonder if it would be worth the effort to port the game? I think MGS4 is already profitable for Konami.
Porting a game from a technical standpoint is not quite so hard as you would imagine, especially if you have the source code for the game and the SDK and dev hardware for the architecture you wish to port to, both of which Konami has. No, it isn’t as easy as simply recompiling your code for the new architecture, but there isn’t anything like magical dust that would prevent them from doing so or making it near impossible to do from a business standpoint. If they want to, they will, and there is a big enough 360 market to make it worth their while.
Remember, for businesses, there is no such thing as enough profits.
