The Future Of Robotic Schoolgirls Looks… Bleak
Monday 30 November 2009 @ 11:59 pm | By Ivan 'Nahu' Lozano 8 CommentsThis is quite disheartening, it really is. Robo-One just took place in Japan, you’ll remember it as the place were Japan practices for the giant mecha battles of tomorrow. The best in Hobby and semi-pro robotics are in display and it’s usually a great place to go and see what the future holds.
Well, my friends, if this dancing schoolgirl robot is what awaits us… I don’t see what the hurry is. This poor thing just wobbles around like a coat hanger come to life. These are not the robo girlfriends our forefathers promised. This isn’t why they spilled their blood in war. It’s a dark day.

I’m amazed that it can keep its balance. I guess I’ve been out of the loop for a while. Remember, baby steps! This is only the beginning!
Damn..
Are those Crocs at 4:00?
..for shame.
Honestly though, I was quite impressed that the robot kept well in sync with the music, and that it was able to move its arms that fast.
Though it’s also the first time I see robots like this.
They spilled their blood… and other fluids xD
(… what? Can’t a robot spill oil or some other fluid??? How about tears? Oily robot tears???)
i think we shouldn’t keep proof of anything the robots of the future will find degrading for when they are ruling over all of us. then again we should probably start with covering up the fact that Real Dolls exist then.
That was terrible… it seemed like it was bolted to the floor wich of course it wasn’t, and the way the arms sometimes bent the wrong way was just… unsettling, it had decent balance but not as good as to keep the guy from keeping it from Falling.
More than dancing it seemed like some sort of robotic epileptic episode, just add a strobe light…
In the future when our Great Robot Overlords look back at their history and see this they will destroy all record of this ever taking place.. it might be someone’s grandma, just imagine the embarrasment. xD
It’s not necessarily a BAD robot… what they accomplished is impressive in some ways. But the Disney Imagineers probably could (have probably already HAVE) done better.
And I find that very. VERY. Depressing.
unless of course the robot could actually “hear” the music and decide which dance steps to use that its algorithms might deem appropriate xD
CREEPY to the core!
