What exactly is the future of videogames? Better graphics? Alternative control devices? What about better stories? In this TED presentation, game designer David Perry talks about the future of games beyond graphics and peripherals. This is a 20 minute talk that as a gamer you cant afford to miss, its not about what games we’ll be playing in 5 or 10 years, its what games our children will be playing in the next 20 years.

I think that the most of the things. That he says and point out is about pretty much true.
One word: Awesome.
Wow, all so true.
That student film went DEEP.
the student film was pretty much a “uh excuse me wtf r u doin?” thing for me, where he goes on about video games and real life overlapping and shit, its basically giving more evidence to the anti-violence people.
What he says is true though, when you play enough racing games you -feel- like you could drive any racing car in the world. You -know- thats bullshit but it does give you a better understanding of the dynamics than say, a movie or a book. Besides the TED crowd, both attendees and those who watch the videos are almost certainly not going to buy that tabloid crap.
As much as I love video games, I still love a great book just as much.
So do I, but I still believe games are capable of a deeper experience, though it doesn’t happen often.
Well, I have never cried from a book, but I have from two video games.
