TAITO Opens Up Retro Arcade Exhibition

Talk about a retro extravaganza. In Shibuya Taito, the arcade giant has set up a temporary exhibition of some of their classic arcade machines, including some of the original Space Invader machines. Of course ‘exhibition’ might be a misleading word for the event. In fact this is a free arcade open to the public in celebration of Taito’s long history and the continued success of Space Invaders’ 3 decades of stealing your quarters.
It really is a shame the arcade market is dying over here in the west, it surely marked some of the best fun in my childhood.

Of course this is Japan…sigh. I miss going to arcades. Well at least I have the memories. ;3
I’ve always wanted a local arcade shop where I could go and hang out. Maybe get my name on the highscores?
There’s still arcades in my country but little by little they are degrading into rent-a-console stands where you can play Guitar Hero while your significant other shops for clothes.
Its a sad state of affairs…
