Mario is on his way back (not that he ever left) and by the looks of things he is making out like the stumble that was the shit-tastic Super Mario Sunshine never happened. Several official new videos of Mario and his new power-ups have been released and they all look awesome. At the risk of grinding your computer to a halt at trying to load a bunch of flash videos containing all manner of Super Mario related awesomeness, you can check the plump, red capped one showing off four of his six brand spankin’ new power ups after the jump - along with confirmation that Boo’s are gay.

This game could not look any better if it tried. F**k Super Mario 64 and those shitty caps. The Bee, the Phantom, the Star and the Ice man is where it’s at. Mario will have two additional power up’s at his disposal aside from the four shown above. One of which see’s the return of the classic Fire flower - marking its first appearance in a fully 3D Mario platformer. The second being some metal spring coil thingy which wraps around Mario. My highly educated (i.e obvious) guess is that it will allow him to bounce around and spring up to areas his regular jump can’t get him. Or possibly allow him to slinky up slopes too slippery for regular Mario to run up. New videos will release soon enough, so we can see what the deal is then.

I can’t wait to play this game. After Super Mario Sunshine letting me down and New Super Mario bros. not being all that new - I know I can rely on Super Mario Galaxy to deliver the goods.
