Oh Square Enix, why do you hurt me so? Why have you forsaken us? Its already a long shot you’ll give us a Chrono Trigger remake and even less of a chance for a sequel, but now you’re telling us we wont be owning CT, or any other Square Enix title, in the Wii’s Virtual Console?
In an IGN translated interview from Japan’s Nintendo Dream magazine, Square Enix’s Shinji Hashimoto said the following regarding the appearance of Square Enix titles on the VC:
“We feel that the Japanese game market still requires media,” explained Hashimoto. “Also, FF and Dragon Quest are played by a wide range of users, from children to adults, so there are limitations when you consider the problems that we would have with billing systems.”
This, of course, is only relevant for Japan, but we all know how much the rest of the world really means to Square Enix: Squat! So there you have it boys and girls, we wont be seeing any great Square OR Enix classics (EVO I’m looking at you) on the VC for quite a while. Feel free to join me in the comments to commiserate.
