Soul Calibur Legends (*Yawn!*)

This trailer confirms what many of us thought when we first saw the game. It will be lackluster. Nothing about this game looks all that interesting does it? Perhaps if Namco boosted Ivy’s breast size or had Taki camel toe, then I would’ve taken more of an interest. As it is though, the game looks pretty standard. The lighting effects are non-existent, the areas look like slightly altered stages from Soul Calibur 1 & 2 and the game looks like it’s running on the DreamCast. The co-op mode looks cool, but I’m not keen on the split screen set up. Hopefully this game will allow co-op play online so both players can enjoy playing on a full screen. Voice chat wouldn’t go amiss neither.
You’d think Namco would give up on these kinds of games after the bore fests that where Tekken Force, Devil within and the horrendous Death by degrees. But hopefully Namco will surprise us. Because it actually would be cool if this game didn’t suck balls. I’d still rather have Soul Calibur IV though.
Gamers in the US will be able to get their hands on this game November 6, 2007.

You’re crazy, my friend; this game looks AWESOME.
No it does not. . .Well, compared to what the Wii can offer us. The same ol’ graphics fomr the Cube’s Soul Calibur 2. We’ve seencharacter design re-use in Capcom with their Darkstalkers, and I DO know that we get tired of watching the same Morrigan design in more than 5 games. I agree with J on this one: Even if the gameplay looks interesting, newer or even “undusted” character designs would’ve got more people to like it.
And for the love of Christ, you don’t announce this game at the same time you’re announcing another one with “better or newer” character designs, that’s like shouting “We don’t care about you, Wii. We decided to put more effort in hi-res consoles”.
Mayor Bummer.
You’re a hardcore fan.
Please learn what that means: you don’t matter. You’re not a new customer; you’re just gonna bitch & moan about anything that’s not “like the previous one, only better graphics!”.
You are not Namco’s target customer — they want people to play *together*, not against each other; and to do it while relieving all their childhood fantasies of swinging a stick (or rather, Wiimote) around as they hack through bad guys.
And you’ll still get your *shiny new* SCIV. Just don’t expect the movelists to become more hopelessly complicated, and for Smash Bros. Brawl to beat it in sales & longevity. Smash it, I mean ;)
Crap, now my sentence makes no sense.
“Just don’t expect the movelists to become more hopelessly complicated, and for Smash Bros. Brawl to beat it in sales & longevity.” should be:
“Just don’t expect the movelists to become LESS hopelessly complicated. And, Smash Bros. Brawl WILL beat it in sales & longevity.”
I’m not saying that this concept won’t be awesome if it is managed correctly, I’m more like unconfortable because the kid next door is getting new shoes with a cooler design and I’m getting the same plain ol’ shoes just with different shoelaces. catch my drift?
No, I don’t catch your drift. Soulcalibur Legends is a huge departure from previous games in the series; it is the new shoes in your example. Soulcalibur IV is a sequel; the same basic game with more characters and better graphics. It’s the old shoes with new laces in your example. Your example as you put it only accounts for graphics, which is just one part of the overall game experience.
Hmm you’re right about that. Still, it doesn’t hurt to go the extra mile for us the gamers, the ones who’re buying the games; gotta keep the customer happy, y’know? And i still think Namco should give us Big Ivy, lulz.
