San Francisco hotel goes Anime themed

The Best Western Miyako Inn, a hotel in San Francisco’s Japantown, is looking for a makeover. More specifically, an anime and J-pop makeover.
As struggling Japantown fights to save the last remaining bits its Japanese theme, the recently JDVHospitality acquired hotel is looking to adopt “contemporary Japanese culture, featuring the bright colors, modern embellishments and art styling found in Japanese anime, manga and street fashion” to bring the hotel and surrounding shopping area “an energetic, optimistic expression”.
The first step is renaming the hotel, as ‘The Best Western Miyako Inn’ doesn’t really echo with the Otaku crowd. The new name will be chosen with a worldwide contest, you can submit your entry to nametheinn@jdvhospitality.com until October 23.
This is a huge step for the migration of japanese pop culture into the western mainstream. This will also become probably the geekiest hotels this side of the Pacific, sweet.
