Riz-Zoawd Trailer Introduces Music, Combat
Wednesday 29 October 2008 @ 12:14 am | By Chris 'Taco' Martinkovic 3 CommentsIn the wake of Tokyo Game Show, we’ve managed to come across a new trailer for Media Vision’s upcoming Wizard of Oz DS RPG, Riz-Zoawd (Pronounced “Re-zōd”). The video gives us a preview of the Naruke-Sakimoto score, as well as showing us more of what looks to be the most impressive graphics yet on the DS.
A few battle clips were also included, sporting a very Dragon Quest-esque first-person, turn-based style. Like movement, it seems combat is controlled exclusively by the touch screen. Also inside you can expect to see the JRPG-ized versions of the cast like Dorothy, the Tin Man, Oz, and the Wicked Moe Witches of the West Seasons.
The game it set to come out in Japan on New Years Day ‘09. Given their track record with Media Vision’s Wild Arms series, a localization for this game by XSEED wouldn’t be particularly surprising. No official word on any plans to bring it stateside yet, though.

D3 is known to bring over quirky games, I think. I agree that it wouldn’t be particularly surprising. Also, the game looks nice. While not the magic Square-Enix manages to get from the DS, it looks quite nice.
Yeah the developers really seemed to be able to push the bounds of the DS. Although only having movement on the bottom screen seems like they are under utilizing space and I don’t relish the thought of having to control EVERYTHING by spinning the ball.
Hopefully there will be a map waypoint system. This game does look really cool. I wish they would release DS demos.
I would love to see some games like this on a mobile platform like the Krave. Has anyone else seen it? (motorola.com/LOUSYATTEMPTATMARKETING) It’s a flip phone with a touch screen, 2 MP camera, full html browser and bluetooth functionality. Definitely worth checking out.
