Wii owners can re-joice in that Capcom hasn’t left them out on some Resi action – because Resident evil: The darkside chronicles is on the way! (Yay!)

The darkside chronicles will feature scenario’s from Resident evil 2, something that fans were majorly pissed were glaringly omitted from The umbrella chronicles. It’s unknown at this point, but its highly likely that Code: Veronica and possibly Degeneration will see their scenario’s played out in this game – seeing as Leon and Claire seem to be the focus of this game.

As with The Umbrella chronicles, the game will be a first person light gun shooter. The in’s and out’s of the game are still thin on the ground. But a couple of tid bits include, being able to see your partner on-screen during single player, the game utilizes the havoc engine for realistic physics, The darkside chronicles will shed light on the darker histories of some of the characters and as with The Umbrella chronicles we may get introduced to characters who weren’t mentioned prior, yet played pivotal parts in the outbreak of Raccoon city and the T-virus. Now for things that I’d like to see. Better quality FMV, because the FMV in the last game sucked all the way down to the balls and looked awful. I know it’s a lot to ask for a game on Wii, but online co-op with voice chat would be rather lovely. For some form of connection to be established between Leon and Claire – they don’t seem to have that rapport or ‘will they, won’t they, have they, haven’t they’ that Chris and Jill have. Hopefully Capcom’ll work on that.

The umbrella chronicles was a decent game. It was far from perfect, but it was evident that a lot of love went into developing the game. Hopefully The dark side chronicles will see the gameplay honed to a higher degree. The graphics are already looking rather spiffy.

I’d personally would’ve preferred a REmake of Resident evil 2 for Wii. Capcom seem to have skirted around it for so long. But at the very least The darkside chronicles see’s Capcom acknowledging Resident evil 2 and revisiting its story.

The game isn’t even half way through development, so there is no release date and probably won’t be one for some time. I’ll be keeping an eye on this game. If Capcom do it right, it could be a really, really good game!
