This week’s Famitsu brings a surprising official take on an age-old hoax of Ragnarok Online coming to DS. Ragnarok Online is coming to the Nintendo DS, however, it is not just a client for the online game, or even an MMORPG at all. Instead, the game is a small scale multiplayer RPG featuring the same 2D Sprites on 3D Environments style of the original game.
The game will allow for up to three players to join forces to combat some likely evil, and we can expect locations and bosses from the online game to make the jump to the portable system. Players will take control of Ares, a novice, and be able to build him just as one would in the online game, choosing your class, skills, and headgear. The game is set to release in Japan in December, and given the popularity of the game here in the States it wouldn’t be unreasonable to see it here some time next year.
