It was practically announced last year by Hideo Kojima but just this week we get confirmation that Konami is indeed working on a Metal Gear Solid movie. Sony Pictures Entertainmen and Columbia Pictures are both involved in this project.
Yair Landau from SPE told IGN:
It’s a very cinematic game, it really lends itself to movie telling. But the question is, ‘How do you translate Snake’s experience into a full arc that conforms to what audiences expect on the large screen?
Yes, because taking Snake to the big screen is much more of a challenge than any other game. I’m hoping to be surprised but unless it has Otacon screaming SNAAAAKE at some point, its probably going to suck.

I just hope they get an ACTUAL PROFESSIONAL director on to this. Just not Michael Bay. He’ll suck the storyline and character out of Metal Gear movies.
Hmm how about Uwe Boll? :P
… Nahu, you deserve herpes for that comment :[ Anywho, Kojima already said that Uwe Boll already rejected that idea – even though Uwe Boll HAS toyed with the idea… Which scares the shat outta me.
Oh, but it could work with Uwe, just think about it.
Forget the stealth, Snake is now a gung-ho mercenary with the power to shapeshift into cardboard boxes and lockers. The bad guys are evil stereotypical russians who build giant commie robots and plan to kill the president.
Oh yeah, the president would be a babe and be Snake’s love interest.
Its just like the game, only Boll-ized to be more classy, you know.
