Rejoice, the gods have blessed us! Production I.G. just published a translated interview with music composer extraordinaire Yoko Kanno about her work on the Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex soundtracks. Yoko talks about what inspired her to compose certain tracks as well as the overall feel of the series, its a truly revealing look into the mind of a composer that has brought us such great music for titles such as Cowboy Bebop, Escaflowne, Macross Plus, Wolf’s Rain, Jin-Roh and even Cardcaptor Sakura. The most impressive thing of all though, its finding out how she discovered her male stuff were a bunch of perverts:
When I told my staff that I had an offer to work on this “Ghost in the Shell” thing, they were jumping with joy. Especially the male staff. They all loved it and said, “You must!” So I checked the original comic, and boy, it’s very erotic. (lol) Most of the crew was composed by males in their 30’s or 40’s, so I thought, “Wow, this is what they like?”
Scandalous! The interview is part of a multipart series so we’ll be on the lookout for more from this wonderful, wonderful woman.
Thanks Shine32!
