Patrick Macias, of Tokyo Eye fame, author of several otaku books and recurring subject of our admiration here at DDN, is embarking on a new adventure of magical informative adventure and tree slaughtering.
Sovereign Media Inc. is launching a new magazine called Otaku USA and Patrick Macias will be taking the job of Editor in Chief. He’ll overviewing and pretty much structuring the new bi-monthly publication which Patrick describes as:
Each issue of Otaku USA will be oversized 9 x 10 7/8, with a poster bound in the center spread, and a DVD inserted onto the front cover, with full- length Anime features and game demos. In addition, each issue of Otaku USA will include a full manga feature, printed as a pull-out section. My aim is to make Otaku USA the best, most comprehensive Japanese pop culture magazine in the marketplace.
The magazine will cost $9.99 in the US and you can stark looking for it in June when the first issue hits the stands. Sounds like a good read anyone who likes Dark Diamond would enjoy, if you still go for the paper media, that is.
Oh, yeah, about that image? Dont ask.

Mein lord, it seems there is a SUSCRIPTION from me on the future… :D
… on the way, i mean…
Oh goodness, for a moment there I thought you could see the future. That could come in handy!
And yes this does seem like an awesome project. I can but hope the rest of the writers are as good as Patrick. We dont really need another lightly written anime mag out there.
Not to be a pessimistic wraith, but i’ve seen too many anime/videogame magazines from Spain, Mexico (and a french one too i think) that arrived here in Tijuana and they all die out in, say, 3 months (at the least) I must say that if there is no proper support from the publishers, good writing… you know, everything that makes a publication “sellable”, we may just expect that something goes the way of the CD-i…
Expecting news, here O__O
Yeah but the US has some long running anime mags like newtype. Thing with mags in spanish speaking countries is that they have to distribute across too many countries and the costs shoot through the roof! Yay for the internet we can have sites like these ;P
