Otaku Pachinko? Otaku Pachinko!

eva2.jpgCasual gaming has been alive in Japan for far longer than here in the west and arcades never did fade into the night as they did in most of the US. Japan also managed to mix this two faces of gaming into some unholy mix called Pachinko.

Pachinko, for those who dont know, are part slot-machine part pinball and part arcade. Its common to find halls filled with these machines being played by the elderly in Japan. Now Patrick Macias has brought us a rare glimpse inside this niche of gaming including some of the most otaku themed machines out there. Just check out this sweet Evangelion machine on the left and click to bigify.

The gallery contains several more pictures and according to Patrick this is but a prelude to his next Tokyo Eye piece, beware.
