Nintendo Press Conference is bores and snores

Speaking as someone who’s listened through Activision conference calls for the stockholders, I can say that I have a pretty strong-willed attention span. But Nintendo’s press conference was quite possible the most boring thing I’ve ever sat through. At least I was able to catch up a bit in Fullmetal Alchemist while waiting for the “announcements” to start.(I lost half my show notes during the conference, so I’m missing the little that was in the beginning) Check out what was said after the jump.
The big announcements
- Wii Sports Resort [Wii]
- Wii Fit Plus [Wii]
- New Super Mario Bros. Wii [Wii]
- Super Mario Bros. RPG [DS]
- Golden Sun DS [DS]
- C・O・P [DS]
- Wii Vitality Sensor [Pulse reader]
- Mario Galaxy 2 [Wii]
- Metroid: Other M [Wii]
10:35- new Super Mario Bros. RPG where you play inside of Bowser’s body.
10:37- 2010 is the release of Golden Sun DS. 3D this time around.
10:38- Some woman on screen talking about how DS is the best console for game development. Announcement of a THQ game written by James Patterson: Women’s Murder Club.
10:40- A 3d DS open world game a la GTA called COP. Looks pretty fun
10:42- Fashion Style, some dressup game for the DS.
10:44- Some video on how everyone bought every DS ever.
10:46- Announcement of Flipnote studio, a sort of animation studio for the DS.
10:48- the new Warioware game (where you make your own minigames) demoed for 30 seconds. You can share all the games on wifi(all old news really).
10:49- Facebook partnership.
10:50- Spirit tracks playable on the show floor. Not even a demo video for the moment though.
10:52- Satoru Iwata comes on stage. He’s talking about how Nintendo is the sole reason for market expansions. 295 million game players at the moment. Apparently there’s 150 million more that could be “converted”
10:55- Iwata’s talking about how making games harder will reduce potential audience, but easier will make “hardcores” leave.
10:58- Wii vitality sensor… I don’t understand, this is honestly pretty terrible.
11:02- Mario Galaxy 2 Announcement, with Yoshi. Seems almost like the same gameplay, but Galaxy was fun, so who cares?
11:04- Reggie Fils-Ami is on stage. Talking about the games he already announced.
- He’s read the blogs, apparently. Trying to talk about the new IPs for Wii for “hardcore”.
11:05- The Conduit trailer.
11:06- New Resident Evil game. Apparently Resident Evil 2 with a Umbella Chronicles adaptation.
11:07- Dead Space Wii trailer. essentially another on-rails sooter.
11:09- Team Ninja and Nintendo coproduction. Metroid: Other M, seems like a 2d/3d mix. very cool
Wait it’s over?
Comment away, I guess( on what little there is to say).

Golden sun for the ds sounds great, but otherwise too much WII wiggling
I still cant believe the Vitality Sensor…
I’m gonna stick it on my dong and see if I can play NMH2 that way.
i must confess it is disappointing… i expected more
I will take Nintendo seriously when anything MGS appears on their consoles. Period.
No mentioning of anything MGS on a Nintendo console = nothing came out on Wii or DS.
the games do look cool though o.o
i was talking to a friend about how a 3rd person Metroid could be nice.. and here we go .. not exactly 3rd person but its almost xDD
Now the game can tell when u mad!
