Microsoft hardware tester Robert Delaware decided to publicize some information on the Xbox 360, namely about a bug that would cause the console to lock up every single time: “If you coordinated the music player with the dashboard, you could get almost every 360 to lock up.” Ouch. That sounds like a pretty big thing to overlook.
Unfortunately for Delaware, he had signed a non-disclosure agreement, so while he felt telling online industry mag VentureBeat was the “moral” thing to do, it also ended up being the “get your own ass fired” thing to do. Is this really a matter of morality? While it is a serious glitch, it isn’t exactly a life-or-death matter either. And of course, caveat emptor.

I’m not sure how I fell about it. On the one-hand this guy isn’t covering up facts like smoking doesn’t give you cancer and NDAs are a very big deal in the gaming industry.
However, $hitsoft should fix something that so obviously can plague every machine and should say something to the base community.
Caveat emptor is one of the worst aspects of our culture. It frees corporations to treat their customers as badly as they please, and to take absolutely no pride in what they create.
Ah yes, then say “well you dont have to buy our product.”
Well, really? You could have fooled me, with all your advertising, exclusive games, and overall viral marketing.
And last I checked, companies were in business to make money, not waste it replacing defective hardware. There are laws, morals(feh), and standards.
