Capcom have only gone and revealed ANOTHER trailer for their bad ass forthcoming next-gen survival horror. Resident evil 5 is the game that just keeps on giving…

I have no idea who the Metal Gear Solid Naomi-esque lady is, or the hooded assistant. One thing I did notice though was that the hooded assistant appears to be female. I could be wrong, but I noticed the hooded figure had heels on as they jumped into the boat, had a woman’s chin and mouth when sat in the truck and had a woman’s walk as she left a room with the Naomi-esuqe lady. Could it be Sherry Birkin? The mind boggles. But I get the feeling that the hooded figure is of some importance or relevance. More than the trailer would have us believe.

Capcom revealed some time ago that the game would feature online play. It now has been confirmed that the entire main game can be played with 2 players online, which is an incredibly exciting prospect and a first for the series.

The A.I will take control when you want go at the game alone. I’ll most definitely be sure to always have a buddy online to play through the game with, because the A.I seems like it could be a liability at times. The last thing you want is to you run off and then 20 seconds later have the screen go red with the word’s “Sheva is dead…” plastered across it because the A.I decided to plant itself on the spot to pick off 50 enemies with 3 bullets of ammo. As with Resident Evil Zero you’ll probably be able to have limited control of your partner: such as telling them to stay put, follow you, be trigger happy, stay idle and the frequency of which they’ll offer you items. I say Capcom just rip off Final Fantasy XII and throw in a Gambit system.

It will be interesting to see how the game will be mapped out and the situations which will arise causing Chris and Sheva to split up. We already saw Sheva play the ‘master of unlocking’ in the clip above. It’ll be great to see other scenario’s where our heroes get split up and have to help each other out.

The destructible environments are cool, but the deal with the doors isn’t new like the friendly man is making out. You could actually do it in Resident Evil 4. But having Leon put a size 10 boot through it was always more dramatic and satisfying.

The game looks stunning. But it looks a  lot more like Resident evil 4 than I thought it would. Of course it’s to be expected and it’s no bad thing considering how brilliant the game was. But there were moments it literally looked JUST like Resident evil 4. The animations for when enemies are shot have blatantly been re-used. When Chris shot the dude at the top of the staircase I expected him to tumble down the flight of stairs in a heap. But he just collapsed on the spot flat out. Still, the game looks brilliant and it’s only a small section of what is bound to be a mammoth and highly polished game.

New girl Sheva Alomar looks like she can handle her business, but I would’ve preferred Jill Valentine. The hot African weather would’ve been the perfect opportunity for the return of the boob tube, mini skirt and knee high boots combo. But I’m assuming Capcom created Sheva so they could throw a black protagonist into the mix. Dispelling the whole white man embarking on black genocide notion that came with E3 2007’s trailer. It should also be noted that there are an even mix of white enemies inhabiting the village now.

I have this feeling that Sheva is either going to die or double cross Chris - with the end result in either case being that Chris has to pop a cap in her forehead. If she does make it to the end of the game and the two of them end up on a jetski in the middle of nowhere, I hope Chris doesn’t make the same bastard mistake Leon made by saying “No” to her invitation for some ‘relations’. Leon lost major cool points for that one. It made me doubt his lust for Ada and that he could be gay. Something which could well be a secret that gets revealed in a future Resident evil game.

Resident Evil 5 is set to release worldwide in March, 2009 - Japan: March 12, North America and Europe: March 13. Many Wii fans are hoping upon hoping this game will get ported at some point. I don’t think it will happen, but there’s more reason to be optimistic about it now seeing as Capcom recently announced they’ll be porting Dead rising to the Wii. If Capcom feel the Wii remote can offer something new to the game and that there’s a market for it, then it’s a strong possibility - although it would be a huge undertaking.
