More Haruhi Season 2 Rumors Surface, Rerun Airs

We all remember back when, whenever Kadokawa told us that Haruhi was indeed airing this season, then all our hopes and dreams got shot down when they announce that it’s only a rerun? Of course, Haruhi Season 2 rumors have been about as rare as “MGS 4 for the 360” ones were. But even after being so blatantly shut down, we keep on hearing more rumors here and there.
What might be the most concrete piece of information that supports a season 2 rumor is the recent post by a Japanese blogger that the rerun is 28 episodes long. This has been later confirmed by multiple other TV stations airing the rerun in the television schedules, and some are listing the show as “new”(although the counter argument for that is that it’s being broadcast in 1080p, unlike the first time through). And don’t forget about the Suzumiya Haruhi-chan and Nyoro~n web anime that Kadokawa has been releasing(for free no less) on the internet. One could argue that it’s all buildup for the “surprise” season 2.
What most people have mentioned against the idea of a second season is that KyoAni has never been known to produce that many shows in the same season. With K-ON airing at the moment, it would seem unfeasable for them to also do Haruhi at the same time(especially with the high level of animation that K-ON had in the first episode). There was a Haruhi rerun commercial during the debut of K-ON, and it’s being heavily advertised, so one could wonder.
The first episode of the rerun has already aired, and it seems to be the same show for the moment, apart from a couple of extras here and there. This time around they decided to broadcast it in chronological(read:logical) order, unlike the first time, where it was in some strange order for pacing reasons. Whereas it would be a bit odd to stick new episodes in the old broadcast order, chronological order makes it infinitely easier. The first 6 episodes covered volume 1 of the books, so all they would have to do is stick new ones after that. So we will have to wait at least a month and a half to know.
What do you think of this mess? Is Katokawa just fooling around with us? Do you even care about Haruhi after all the PR surrounding it? Let us know by leaving a comment below!

Lots of winks and nudges and smoke. Still, it must be a testament to the fan fervor when Haruhi first aired that I am very eager to see the story continued. As for the actual quality of the show (thus far)? Well, its alright.
I think a 2nd season is very likely. I sure would be happy to see one come around sometime soon.
Yeah it makes economic sense to do a 2nd season, the question is if they will pull any surprises on the fanbase about how they do it.
this will be the resurection of haruhi suzumiya the monster summoner….
heheheh
