Hiromichi Tanaka, producer of the Final Fantasy III remake for the Nintendo DS, was interviewed a couple of days ago by CVG on the success of FFIII. It was all going just as planned when CVG asked the million fanboy question: Will there be a FFVII remake? In this case a DS remake. From the interview:
A lot of people are asking whether Final Fantasy VII will ever be available on DS?
Tanaka: The main thing is the timing. If we have time it is possible to do a remake of an original game but because we are at the time where the machines are changing with Wii, 360 and PS3 coming out, the development team tends to work on these games so that’s the way things are going at the moment. This is the 20th anniversary of Final Fantasy III.
Is that a yes? a no? maybe? I’m confused. Sounds like a “we’ll get there eventually” which I imagine translates to ”current FFVII fans still have a lot of money, so not yet, we can milk them some more”. Interesting nonetheless.

Fan-sploitation at its best. Also, i think its a big NO, at least a temporary one, though, to be sincere and realist, i think this will never happen. No FF VII for DS, EVER.
How about no FFVII remake ever? Its bound to happen, even if in 20 years.
