Japanese Giant Mecha Kids Show Has 12-man Mecha

Japan is truly the master of giant robot kid shows. While the only American version, the Power Rangers, had some pretty cool moments back in the day (and by this I mean back in the day when watching the Power Rangers was still fun), even having two megazords fighting alongside each other, they never had a 12 man robot, ever. But Japan does! As you can see in the clip above from the new robot series Sentai Go-onger.

That’s right, that’s a huge badass robot made of twelve smaller robots. Do you have any idea how badass that is? It’s so badass you start running out of colors for your ‘rangers’. It’s so badass your evil giant monster can kick it in the crotch… and it feels nothing.

There’s even a freaking whale-plane! A whale-plane. Power Rangers eat your heart out!

Despite my age, I thought this was flippin’ awesome. Well, at least before the people started bringing out their toys.

  2. Luna says:

A shark on wheels and a flying Whale, great. Anyone else think the evil girl is hot?

  3. GOOD GOD MAN! IT’S A FLYING WHALE!!! SHOOT THAT SHIT DOWN!

And am I the only one who wonders why the baddies don’t just beat the crap out of them while they are transforming?

    • Or why they don’t just come out with the giant robot in the first place and simply squash the guy?

Or why in Sailor Moon the baddies don’t just attack or flee during the transformation sequence… although I’d understand that one. I mean, hot girls floating naked in mid air? I’d stay and watch too!

    • Enner says:

If you apply Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha to everything, the transformation sequence actually takes place in a brief or instant moment of time. So, we’re actually watching things in bullet time during transformation sequences.

    • Sol says:

They did in power rangers. Thats how the green ranger came to be. Shit…nerd alert on me.

  4. Link says:

I don’t know why, but the beginning reminded me of Gurren Lagann :O

  5. Khaim says:

I really prefer Kamen Rider in those cases. The henshin is merely 1 second long “in real-time” battles. Alas i guess this is the same for other tokusatsu’s. Kiva would even transform around 2-3 times per episode after beign knocked down the same ammount of times!

  6. Sana says:

It is Power Ranger RPM in US

  7. Khaim says:

Talk about ganging up at a badguy xD

The first time i saw something similar was in MMPR when battling some Cyclopsis
