Japan Unveils The HRP-4C: A Fashion Model Fembot
Monday 16 March 2009 @ 10:49 pm | By Ivan 'Nahu' Lozano 18 CommentsRejoice! The day of our robot companions draws near! Japan’s National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology has unveiled its latest creation, the HRP-4C, a humanoid robot made for the runway. Watch her strut her stuff in the following video.
Perhaps she would have benefited from a more appealing name, but as a fashion model robot, the HRP-4C is very capable. She walks around and strikes some poses, she’s completely balanced by 30 motors in her body and surprisingly expressive with 8 motors in her face. At 158 centimeters of height and weighting in at 43 kilograms, she’s the closest we’ve come to an actual fembot. A couple of things come to mind:
- Is there a Dr. Light behind this project?
- If so, here’s Roll, where’s MegaMan.
- Can we teach her martial arts?
- If so, someone order me a Motoko Kusanagi model.
- How’s that synthetic skin development going?
Make your bets, how many years until rich lonely men have a personal ‘assistant’ derived from this?

No, these are way too creepy for me.
She’s missing four parts until she becomes mass-marketable. I’m letting you guess what those four are.
boobs and an ass!
thats 4 rite?
breasts, ass, and a two entry holes.
A heart, soul, mind, and voice?
Much love for that, Enner.
It will be very creepy to see old men get female cyber-bodies to indulge in countless immoral stuff (oh-mein! i mean, oh-my!)
Let us not forget Motoko is a cyborg, not a robot… or perhaps she lost her humanity in.. wait a minute, in wich episode of the series? Or wich movie? Perhaps at the first or second manga?…
Word paradox!
Now that i think about, it will be an interesting subject somewhere in the future to state the question “when does a cyborg become a robot?”
Motoko has no human parts that I can remember, her whole body is robotic and she has the cyberbrain as well. Thats why all thats left of her human self is her ghost.
brain cells as i recall from the manga… she was not an AI.. and the soul or ghost refers to the bit of humanity this gives her.. though she constantly questions her humanity…
the puppet master was a full AI…
The Tachikomas are the real ghost in the shell though. I’d support an entire franchise based on the tachikomas.
AI’s though xD
with collective consciousness xD
all synched and always confused about identities xD
nothing organic, just advanced AI’s.. and therefore robots…but i agree… despite being synchronized they retained individual personality traits…
the lady still a cyborg though xD
Whoa! I thought that it was a girl in some sort of robotic suit until I watched the video clip.
You forgot one thing Nahu:
“Does she come equipped with an emergency shutdown button?”
You never know when they’ll go all haywire and try to kill you.
Oh, and another thing:
“Does she come with accessories? i.e. interchangeable hands: battle axe, laser cannons…maybe a maids outfit?” :3
Oh damn, put a maid oufit on that and you can just sit back and watch the cash roll in.
Maid outfit, i’m game.
that’s creepy! reminds me of oldschool ps1 games, when the character models were very stiff :p
o.o I saw something like that last year in Central Park. It was in a pretty kimono and kept blinking and moving around. It also responded to questions… appropriate ones.
WAAA Beautiful hair but she talk like a lady tough she looks young.
