So LifeHacker ran a story today on a website that tells you how much your domain is worth. This website, LeapFish.com, utilizes some very strong intarweb voodoo (and some coding I assume) to analyze certain variables in your domain name to produce an amount which might shock you.

Take us for example, darkdiamond.net, I’ve had this domain for quite some years now and I never saw it as something that would gain value. But with the expansion of the internet finding a decent domain name proves to be more of a challenge each day. So what would a domain like darkdiamond.net be worth today? Well according to LeapFish its worth $18,150.00!…well, kinda.

The process gives you two numbers, one being a base value which is pretty much the minimum you should sell for, and an estimated actual value which is what your domain could sell for at recent domain sale standards. The minimum value for our domain is actually $330.00; I’m not rich yet but thats still quite an increase considering i got it for a good $15.00!

Bottom line is a domain will only be worth what someone is willing to pay for it and unless you are sitting on top of sex.com then your probably better off giving that domain a good use (may I suggest linking to us).
