Guy Marries 2D Girl, Becomes Happiest Otaku Alive

Tokyomango’s Lisa Katayama gives a report on this past Sunday’s wedding of a Japanese man and his virtual girlfriend, Nene Anegasaki, from the DS game Love Plus. This is not the first time we’ve heard of Otaku trying to get hitched to their true 2D loves, but it’s certainly the first that’s been this ceremonious. They give it a performance art twist but come on. When you think Japan, do you think of edgy performance artists making social commentary? Or do you think sad lonely men obsessed with fantasy characters?

Congratulations to the groom, I heard he spent the wedding night reading erotic doujins, how romantic.

Either its performance art or a way to make us geeks and alike to look like misfits and peeps full of FAIL. I have already seen the consecuences: two weeks ago, at the dinner table they were discussing how japanese men (they did not even say “some men”, they said “men”) are retards and are pluging Japan to a humilliating demographic demise due to videogames, manga and entertainment as a whole. The worst part came when all the “adults” were looking at me taking my dinner, and later pointed fingers to my little brother and younger teen and pre-teen cousings playing videogames (and of course, blaming me for doing “such aborrent thing to curse them with videogaming”)

    Ah yes, unfairness unsued.

You know, i doubt Konami will retire Nene from the game to make her an “Otaku Groom” exclusive. I wonder why his RL girlfriends dumped him. There are lots of rumors out there.

You know, maybe Dark Diamond needs a new poll, asking if we have a partner/spouse/girlfriend/boyfriend. A real person.

I know how frustrating it can be to live in a house full of ignorants. Don’t let them get to you and get out of there as fast as you can (unless you’re stuck, which sucks)

wouldn’t reading Dojinshi be like cheating on the wife with other 2D girls? xD

unless they were of the character of course xD
