GunDAMN! Sweet mother of all Gundams
Wednesday 23 August 2006 @ 9:09 pm | By Ivan 'Nahu' Lozano 32 CommentsWe’ve talked about big mechas before, specifically big Gundam mechas. Remember? I called it a ‘Big ass Gundam’, I was young and naive. This is a big ass Gundam!
The Gundam is 7 meters high, 3 meters wide and apparently took over 10 months to build. But this isn’t just the world’s geekiest paperweight, the freaking thing moves! There are several hydraulic pistons in the structure, one of them supposedly located in its crotch (can you say crotch rocket?).
And where does one control such a beast? From the cockpit, of course!
Hit the jump from more pictures.
Hope you enjoyed them, because I’m sure enjoying the idea of launching crotch rockets from the cockpit
[Giant Gundam].

Here It Is, The Biggest Gosh-Darn Gundam…
In our effort to record every abnormally large Gundam statue, we bring you this 7 meter high, 3 meter wide Gundam. For a size comparison, take a look at the humans in the lower right corner. This statue is quite……
Unless that’s a very small person in that first picture, this is much bigger than 7 meters by 3 meters. I’d guess it’s at least 12 meters tall (and more if the person in that picture is event taller than I’m guessing).
The person on the first picture is actually a kid and the website said 7. There’s another picture with the creator and he isnt very tall. So 7 seems to be about right, but it would be even cooler if I were wrong.

[...] Last one for the day. See the entire article here. Some blithering idiot who replied to the Kotaku article said since Westerners are taller than Asians, the thing is probably just six feet tall. When comparing the size of the statue to the people on the right size, keep in mind that our Asian friends tend to be much shorter than us Westerners. So, in reality this statue is what, 6 feet tall? On the first one, yes. on the later one its an adult.
Can that thing really walk?
Thats what they said!
This means that they are perfectly fine, if not readily accepting of the idea of actually attempting to create mobile suits, or gundams. Finally, a culture that isn’t afraid to make its greatest fantasies reality! I wonder how much flak they’re going to receive internationally when they do create a gundam, or create newtypes, or spacenoids, or coordinators, or PLANTS, etc…
KHAAAAAAAAAAAN!
Exactly, some household robots are already looking like Patlabor mechas, we covered that last week. Its a great future ahead.
If an efficient mecha is to be designed, one that could provide a formidable foe against armor, aircraft, etc.. it would have to be somewhat more “Human” in construction. I.E. the concept of gears in leg sections and such; joints, for example, can not depend on gears, pulleys, etc. I have researched some possibilities, and there are ways that someone could compensate for the “clunkiness” associated with something that large. The mecha projects that are up and running today are a joke compared to what could be; the most famous example is a company using a high performance car engine for their mech… that will not do. In theory, modern day technology is sufficient to make a “mobile suit”, and a very good one at that, but the problem is funding, research and design, and the global reaction to such a creation. Quite honestly, how do you convince the global community that Gundams are a good thing?
Thats a big Gundam! But beat this, a disco dancing gundam!

I was just making some blue prints for a 12 foot Gundam to build in my garage and i saw this!!! amazing
Cool, nice to see a western attempt, let us know if you pull it off!
this is great,i hope in the near future they’ll make mobile suites and gundams, thats a dream come true and start training pilots.
and they says we don’t have the equipment to make one
holy f@$! that thing is awsome
I an building a full-size copy of gundam 01 from Gundam Wing it’s will be an exact double from the series fully functioning cockpit and suit. I am skilled in computer programming, hydrolics, machanics, and design. The 01 is only the first suit I plan to build it will be followed by 02-Epyon I need specs on 01 as well as the others. please e-mail them to me at redneck1912@yahoo.com
wtf how much ill buy >=]
Actually i have design a mecha for my self, i named as Gun Rad , it,s was 3,5 meters high, but i don’t have enough money to buy more spareparts, it,s customed handmade spareparts, for frame i use alumunium, cheap and lightweight, but i don’t use any computers to control it, just two analog hand joystick for hand and two pedals for it,s feet yep…it manual..but some day ..maybe i use computer….if i have smart enough to program it.
Hey im good with computers maybe we could team up to build the real thing please email me at redneck1912@yahoo.com
