The design of Guitar Hero 4’s drumkit has just been revealed in the latest GameInformer via Destructoid. It has six buttons in total, including the bass pedal.

While the kit is highly influenced by Drummania’s, there are some important differences. On closer inspection the hi-hat and cymbal pads are more elevated, and between the snares and toms. This means that players won’t be bullied into crossing over their arms to play the faster hi-hat/snare patterns which often pop up in Drummania. Also the tiered pads should allow players to move and roll between notes with greater fluidity, which is definitely a plus.
Another nifty inclusion is the ability to accept velocity data, which I’m guessing will lead to a wider range of drum sounds. The bass pedal is the only thing that looks like it belongs in a Rock Band kit, but hopefully won’t be as stiff and frustrating to use.
GameInformer’s first hands-on experience with the new hardware was “very positive,” and I wouldn’t be surprised if it blows Rock Band’s model out of the water in terms of comfort and playability.

In before Guitar Hero 4 (Insert irrelevent band) edition.
So…it’s Guitar Hero + some other people?
Its gonna be Guitar Hero 4: Progressive 70’s, featuring 20 minute drum solos.
Now THAT is a game I would actually buy.
xD That would be fun, but im pretty sure that my arms would fall off.
Id still rather buy my own electric drums and re-learn how to play them.
Interesting.
Here’s hoping all drums are compatible with each other (which of course won’t happen). So what does this mean? People are either gonna have to choose one game, or have 20000000 plastic drum kits floating around their households (if you haven’t seen, Konami just announced a drum/guitar game as well)
Yep, its kinda out of hand.
The Guitars themselves should have been bluetooth compatible, so you can use them on different systems. Even the PS2 version should have had that technology. It has a USB port for a small dongle, right?
