GONZO wants to bastardize Romeo and Juliet

romeojuliet.jpgGONZO announced today that its planning on releasing a TV series based on William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. This brings me joy and giddy smiles, GONZO’s dark and moody touch always has me coming back for more. And they already have a history of messing with the great classics; Gankutsuou, GONZO’s take on The Count of Montecristo, was a great example of how giant mecha and aliens can turn a cool revenge story into a badass revenge story.

The series, titled Romeo X Juliet, is set for release on 2007. So expect to see Romeo riding a 30 meter robot and Juliet stabbing herself with a lightsaber soon.
