Go To Japan, Get Your Anime Degree
Tuesday 30 October 2007 @ 10:48 am | By Ivan 'Nahu' Lozano 9 CommentsWhile drawing manga has long been a scholarly subject in Japan, one you can actually go and learn at a university, anime has been overlooked in the field of academia. This wont be so anymore as already a couple of Japanese universities including the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music (Tokyo Geijutsu Daigaku) have announced their plans to open graduate and undergraduate courses in animation and all that surrounds it. Seems like it wont be long until fellow Otaku in Japan like the one above, albeit (very) lonesome, will be respected scholars. And I bet nothing woos hugpillows like a university title!

The only real Otakuologist I know is Patrick Macias, he’s otaku about otaku.
This smells of Cha— O SHI
Rules are rules!
Link, if you are refering to rules one and two, those rules are fake, created by the newfags.
True, Nahu. I was expecting *someone* to say that.

So very true… sad, but true.
Hopefully, i mean, i guess probably otakus will earn a bit more respect in society as “graduates” and “proffesionals”

Hi, I am just enquiring about information about a possible degree in animation studies. Like anime, does one do a bachelor of arts to study this?
Hi Brett, you’ll have to ask the Tokyo Geijutsu Daigaku directly for that kind of information.
