Velcor and I are both big Killer 7 fans and when we heard that Suda 51 was working on a Wii project we did a little dance. I will not show you this dance, but it was cool, thriller-cool. Anyway, E3 came and went leaving no new information on the game, sadness ensued. Then yesterday, the good folks at The Wire posted up a truly super happy fun time exclusive, a trailer for Heroes!
we received a whopping 600MB zip file containing the footage planned to be shown at E3 2006, uncompressed to be an 846MB AVI file lasting 3 minutes and 45 seconds.
Our impressions after the jump.
The trailer is amazing, just what I expected. Heroes features a very similar graphical style to Killer 7 but with small improvements that make it look all the more sexy. This time cel shading is mixed with realistic 3d graphics and some video overlays. The result is a much more believable and coherent environment. Ill say it again, its sexy!

The music in the trailer is just a small sample looped, its still very much in the same style as Killer 7. The voice acting is even the same, over-the-top acting with cheesy punchlines. I wouldn’t be surprised if a couple of voice actors return from Killer 7.

The story seems to be about a hitman that has reached the top 11 of the assassin world. This has granted him challenging rights and he’s now out to kill the remaining 10 and claim #1. Then again, this is a Suda 51 game, so its probably not about that and the true plot is way more out there.
No gameplay is shown but this time there is swordplay involved, probably as the main weapon, couple this with the Wiimote and Red Steel might not hold the cool gameplay crown for long. In Killer 7 you had multiple personalities from hitmen you had killed before. I wouldn’t be surprised if in Heroes you gained the other hitmen’s personalities as you hunt them down.
Our only complain: No Mask de Smith, every game should have Mask de Smith! It just makes good business sense! In the words of the man himself: “I’m not a monster, its just a mask!”

All in all the game looks very promising in providing a polished Killer 7 style because gameplay aside there’s nothing truly new in the mix. The game will probably end up being even more post modern than Killer 7, art + videogames = happiness.. well, we still have to see how that Bob Ross game does.
