EA & Activision: Duelin’ Banjos
Wednesday 8 August 2007 @ 6:04 pm | By Jonathan_Leo Comment now!A recent post at website GameDaily BIZ showcases the “battle of the bands” between EA’s Rock Band and Activision’s Guitar Hero 3, hearing what each side has to say regarding the situation. As both games are coming out in the holiday season, there is indeed a lot to say. Frank Gibeau, president of the EA games division, had this to say :“I like our, Harmonix and MTV’s chances and we’re going to take it to them. This is the type of situation that we relish.”
The gauntlet-slapping continues as Will Kassoy said the following: “If you take a step back and look at what the game has done, it’s not unlike what GTA did for free-roaming games, or Mario for platformers, or Tony Hawk for skateboarding. It’s created a genre in itself, and there’s a lot of power with the mass market consumers and enthusiasts that a brand has in their mind, and that Guitar Hero has established.”
