Now that the crowd has departed from greater Los Angeles and the dust has settled from the glitz and glamor of 2009’s Electronic Entertainment Expo, we now have a chance digest all of the latest and greatest videogame news. From Microsoft’s Project Natal and Milo video, Sony’s newest addition to the MGS franchise, Nintendo breathing life into Mario Bros and Metroid. What were you most excited about or disappointed in this year’s E3? I’ve added my take below to start off the discussion.

First up with Microsoft. I was thinking Natal was still in the early concepts phases of development and then I saw Milo. If you haven’t seen the video check it out. I have a hard time believing it wasn’t at all scripted, but it is an amazing proof of concept IF, and it’s a really big if they can get this into this generation of Xbox’s. I was thinking this would be better for the Xbox 720.
Nintendo always has something up it’s sleeve and while I have a lot of love for my Wii, I don’t really play Mario Bros, it does look cool, but I am more interested in a new take on Metroid and more “adult” titles, The Conduit, Gladiator, pretty much everything from High Voltage at the moment.
Sony, *sigh* I was hoping for more. A splash came from their take on the motion peripheral, but it wasn’t nearly as big or impressive as Natal. However until I see real gameplay from either of these companies I’ll reserve some judgement.
The major publishing companies like EA, Activision got to show off their next round of games. I’m looking forward to the Modern Warfare series, but not excited about ALL of the newest music type games like Brutal Legend or the DJ Scratch game.
Out of the WHOLE thing, was most excited with the announcement for L4dD x2. All of the crew and DDN friends on XBL (you should add us if you haven’t already) know out of all the games I own I play L4D the most. So a new title in the franchise is icing on the cake for me. While I can talk about it being too early I have rose colored glasses and am looking forward to melee combat with a chainsaw.
I am still eager to see what will truly revolutionise videogaming. As for now, E3 did not move me too much. It left me wondering what was the thing that made holograph technology as something irrelevant or not as good as it looked (har har)
As for my lower videogaming necesities, I am glad to see more of MGS, and, i think that is pretty much about it.
