Details from the Japanese Wii event [update 5]

What has been revealed so far:
- Virtual console games are priced 500, 800 for Snes games and 100 Yen presumably for N64 games. This suggests a $5 $8 and $10 price points for the US.
- Iwata says that 30 Nintendo games 30 PC Engine/Megadrive?Genesis/Turbo-Grafx will be out before year’s end. 10 Virtual consoles released every month thereafter.
- VC game purchases will be done via credit or prepaid cards.
- Launch price for the Wii set at 25,000 Yen ($215), launch date December 2.
- Wii.com goes live in Japan.
- A press release has been issued and the contents of the Wii box are revealed: Console, Wiimote with strap and batteries, Nunchuck attachment, AC adapter, Av cable, Console Stand, Sensor bar and Sensor bar stand. There’s no mention of Wii Sports being included.
- Game pricing to be from 4800 to 6800 Yen, which hints at a $40 to $55 price range for the US.
- 16 launch titles on launch day, other launch titles to follow in the weeks to follow.
- Peripheral prices are 3800 Yen for the Wiimote, 1800 Yen for the Classic controller and 1800 Yen for the nunchuck attachment.
- Its been confirmed that Wii sports wont be included with the console. Big boo for the Seattle PI.
