Dead Space To Be Made Into Feature Film
Tuesday 28 July 2009 @ 12:56 pm | By Sol 4 CommentsWhen Electronic Arts forayed into the horror genre with Dead Space they took a leap of faith. Now the franchise spans all consoles as well as PC computers, an animated film, comic book series and soon to be film adaptation. Director D.J. Caruso (Eagle Eye, Disturbia) is set to turn this sci-fi horror thriller into a popcorn throwing movie going experience.
As someone who loves all things horror, Dead Space was a excellent game, however a movie based off of it sounds oddly reminiscent of Event Horizon. Gamesplotation appears to be coming full court press as more studios/investors are looking to capitalize and leverage current IPs into multi-faceted franchises. I only hope the adaptation will feel fresh with loads of occult references and possible stabs at Scientology…

Ah, a mention of Event Horizon. Brr…
I’m not a horror fan, but I hope this film does well. Who knows, maybe it will be the breakout video-game-to-film adaption that will go further than Silent Hill did.
well it wouldn’t be the first time a concept is reused… or raped beyond recognition…
Jaws and Alien is basically the same thing…
casablanca and barbwire *shudders* is .. the second thing xD
it basically comes down to “how its done” not what…
and if they do it well enough the movie might be good o.-
here’s hoping against Hollywood o.-
Its a great idea, and ‘could’ be pulled off if they do it right. The problem is, they’ll probably dumb it down to hell like the horrible Max Payne, by slapping a pg13 rating on it.
If you’re basing it on something as disturbing as Dead Space. Then go ALL OUT!
while i do think it’ll be dumbed down.. this is a Horror Genre were talking about…
Max Pain aint horror… so this one might retain more of its horrorish stuff… and a higher rating o.-
im just glad its not going to be a Uwe Boll movie xD
