Cleaning House with Bandai
Tuesday 27 May 2008 @ 9:01 pm | By Ben 'FBINinja' Schmidt 3 CommentsHi there, you seem to be new here! Here at Dark Diamond we frequently update with news about video games, anime, Japan and other cool stuff. Head on over to our homepage or go ahead and subscribe to get updates! Enjoy!
Bandai has decided to close down the Bandai Visual section recently, due to low sales. The drop in sales is pointed to illegal downloading of fansubs, which has been named the cause of this, and other closings, like ADV’s Europe branch (Im not too sure if they stopped in America as well, let me know), and Geneon USA’s halt of sales.
Nothing has been said about the completion of series in progress before the liquidation.
In the wake of this, what else can be done? Are Japanese animation companies really hurting from this? Discuss in the comments.

I know ADV doesn’t mind the fansubs from what I have heard from Q&As with them. Hell some of them started out that way. I could see some of them hurting from this due to the poor sub and dub tranlastions they give us on the dvds. It’s great marketing resarch to see what series is being wanted by the people that download the fansubs. Pick up the popular ones and release it on dvd. The fansubs don’t even sell their stuff. They cannot even stand hearig about people selling their stuff.
Im still sad about Geneon…..
And Newtype.
I’m agree with Seneca. And for me, the DVDs that have 4 episodes are too expensive, imagine if I want all Sailor Moon… >.> that’s a lot of money for a bad sub
