The Chinese government has imposed a ban on Anime in chinese Prime Time TV. The ban, effective come September, prohibits Channels to air any sort of foreign animation on the 5 to 8 p.m. time block. The measure comes after Anime had taken over most of the animation aired in the country, even after a policy to air 60% chinese animation minimum. The chinese goverment is known for its efforts to control citizen’s Internet usage and other media.
This are crude measures of a government clinging to an era that is long gone. Its also certainly a bit hit to the chinese otaku community, but as we all know, few things can stop a determined otaku.
