Chaos Rings Is An All Belts, No Zippers JRPG For The iPhone

As much as I hate eating my own words the iPhone really has become a gaming platform. Sure there’s not that much mainstream support for it just yet but big names like Square Enix are already getting in on the action. Now, we’ve known about this Square RPG for the iPhone for quite some time but finally seeing the trailer for Chaos Rings really brings the message home: this is a true jRPG… for a cell phone. There’s the PSX-level graphics, the cheesy hair and a fair amount of belts on the clothes. Though I didn’t see many zippers there, so the jury’s still out.

Well fricking yeah, nice, it has jrpg’s and what is not. So what? Congratulations to all iPhone owners an pwners.

    It actually looks rpetty good…

thing about the trailer and question in my head: “how much of the player’s thumbs are going to be blocking that from view… in a ‘playing it for real’ not a ‘barely touch it for the trailer’s sake’ way”

while i do think the thing has earned a small spot in the gaming platform area.. i think that is still something that makes it a bit less attractive…

until steve jobs comes up with the iJoypad to use on the iPhone and iPad xD

Does look nice. the iPhone does have potential, and I’m glad to see square’s taking advantage of it… but I’d be happier to see a Final Fantasy 7,8, or 9 remake on the iPhone.
