What a bad journalist I am; I didn’t even know that this game existed until today! Konami is making a fighting game based in the Castlevania universe for the Wii, and now we’ve got a few juicy tidbits to speculate over.
Besides being obviously weapon-based and 3D, the game’s visual style is also a bit similar to Soul Calibur, down to the health bars. However there is also some kind of mana/super bar at the bottom of the screen.
So far we know that Simon, Maria, and Alucard will all be playable characters. The character design seems to be more based on stylized shiny anime look of franchise entries like Dawn of Sorrow, rather than the elegant lineart of Symphony of the Night’s concept art. Belts and zippers ahoy! Also, lol wii graphix.

Truth be told, at least it looks on par to what the Xbox could put out. That’s not something that can be said for the majority of Wii games, sadly.
And “eh” to the character designs by the Death Note manga artist. Where’s the Ayami Kojima for Nintendo Vania games!
More brawlers on the Wii are good. Tru Dat’ on Ayami designs. However what I really wish for the Wii is a f’ed in the head survival horror. RE4 was good, but I’m wanting something more like the original Silent Hill. There are lot of adult Wii owners :(
My issues with these shots? They look TOO hi-res, and we all know the wii can’t put out crispness like that. so they’re obviously touched up, to look that sharp.
as a game, i’m not sure if the CV series even NEEDS a 1-on-1 fighter. but it’s worth a shot. i am liking all the designs of the characters. (and how they’re having the items play a major role in the battles)

Which explains why the pictured girl looks like MisaMisa in pink.
