Kotaku reports that as of approximately an hour and twenty minutes ago, Tecmo will be taken over by Square Enix. The deal is expected to provide financial relief to Tecmo, whose supposed Blockbuster title of the summer, Ninja Gaiden 2, was anything but. Making matters worse, the company is currently being sued by most of Team Ninja including Tomonobu Itagaki, creator of the flagship Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive franchises.
Square Enix, meanwhile, will benefit from an increased North American presence beyond the traditional 14 year-old girls and nerds of all ages that make up Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts’ target audience, in addition to an expanded portfolio of non-RPG games. Final Fantasy Xtreme Beach Volleyball anyone?

Shiva in a bikini, Rinoa in a gstring.. I can see it working.
Squall in a thong… D: oh dear god what have they done!
That’s no-man’s land right there, Nahu.
So now we have three Japanese game companies fused together. Is Tecmo going to be stiched to the end of the name now? I’m guessing no.
So that how it is now. Takeovers are becomming way too usual now, and now, we will have EPIC bikini battles i guess.
The “Dead Fantasy” video now is a prophetic schnit… how is that for creepyness?
I assume itagaki would take DOA and Ninja Gaiden with him, since both are kinda HIS babies. Which leaves us with what from tecmo? Monster Rancher? :p
I would say I’m kinda disappointed with this news, but then again, not like Tecmo has anything going for them since they started doing BEACH VOLLEYBALL shit, after which all their games consisted of the most shallow characters imaginable.
I wanted a real fucking sequel to Deception, not fucking TRAPT with it’s men who hate women who hate men character descriptions.
FFX Blitzball themed Volleyball OH MY.
I would so choose Wakka trigger some 1.2 million reel damage.
