Blood: The Last Vampire: U.S. Theatrical Trailer

While summer of 2009 isn’t a solid release for the U.S., Blood: The Last Vampire will open internationally in Japan on May 29, June 12 in the U.K., June 17 in France, as well many other European countries.  We’ve been following Blood since the teaser was first posted and it’s nice to see they plan to release it across North America. This is one of many anime adaptations, getting the Hollywood treatment. Recent reports also hint that Warner Bros. plans make an American version of Death Note.

while it does look.. odd (couldnt find a better word), it doesnt look THAT “Hollywoodized” i dont think its Hollywood production…

looks good.. lets hope looks don’t deceive xD

Good point. You are correct that the film wasn’t produced by a Hollywood company. To clarify many anime adaptations are being developed with the intent to distribute to the US, Blood being one of them. Keeping this in mind, while anime movies cater to a niche audience, distro in N. AM generally tries to broaden the base.

    Holy shit! This is amazing!!

I like how they kept it Japanese, even with their accents. The American girl fit the stereotypes so well, lol!

  3. Enner says:

That was goofy and a bit cheap-ish, but looked fun. The goofiness can’t be helped given the source material, I guess.

Also, I got tired of all that shrill sword whooshing.

As long as they can make her a strong heroine I’ll be happy. My main point of contention in the anime was having to hear Saya whine through 40+ eps out of a 50 eps series.

    • Nahu says:

Goofiness is what anime movies lack. When they try and be all serious and grim like their american counterparts they end up awful.

Looks great. Really gives off a forbidden kingdom vibe. i always thought when this movie was announced, it was 100% asian done, i didn’t know there’d actually be american actors in it too.
