Best Buy to Price Match Gamestop & Game Crazy’s Used Game Prices
Friday 7 August 2009 @ 9:39 am | By David 'KidKobun' Bruno 13 CommentsIn effort to boost their declining videogame sales, Best Buy looks to be forging a bold new campaign that will drive gamers out of Gamestop and Game Crazy and back into Best Buy for their game related purchases-no discount card necessary.
A community member of Cheap Ass Gamer snapped the above photo at his local Best Buy store located in West Jordan, Utah which outlines their new campaign (sans fine print at the bottom right of the standee):
“Why buy used when you can buy new”
“Best Buy now price matches NEW video games at USED prices from Gamestop or Game Crazy.”
Sure, this might just be persuasion enough for me to start shopping for games at the Big Blue Giant once more, but will it be enough incentive for you? Do you know of any other Besy Buy stores that have already adopting this campaign?
We want to hear your thoughts on Best Buy’s apparent new campaign.

I wonder if my Best Buy is doing this. I really do like that place. All the electronics around me! I’ll definitely check this out. I mean, the reason i buy used is because of the price. Which I assume is same with everyone else.
Yeah, I used to shop at Best But a lot. But once they had everyone’s loyalty they raised their prices and started to nickel and dime people. Go take a look at their DVDs next time you are in there. You’ll see that the DVDs that should be $19.99 everywhere are $21.99 at Best Buy. I don’t shop there unless I have to.
Actually that’s one of the reasons I shop for game stuff at Best Buy and not GameStop. Over here GameStop sells EVERYTHING a few bucks over “normal” price. Games are $64.99, the 360 wireless thingie is $112.99!! Stuff like that… So like you said, I don’t go there unless I have to. I try to look for games first at Best Buy, then Wal-Mart and use GameStop as a last resort.
I’ve seen those Gamestops before. They are generally in Malls where there is no competition.
I’m happy to see somebody taking the fight back to gamestop.
This is a good deal. Most Gamestop used prices are about 5 USD under from a brand new game. This Best Buy deal is pretty much a 5 dollar discount on new games.
They are pretty much taking the amazon route!
Aw yea! Delishus capitalism!
Awwwwwwwwwwwwww yea!
Downloads all the way for me. Or in some cases, get the collection piece.
This will mainly affect the prices of new games, since K-mart (to mention one) sells a lot of games at very low prices, around 15 through 25.
This is a good deal if you are very sure of your game purchase, and plan on keeping the game. If you are unsure of a game and want to try it out, it would be better to get it at gamestop and try it out for 7 days, where you can still get a full refund.
Otherwise, bravo to best buy! *claps*
It is great to see some competition in game sales!!
They are trying to live up to their name, looking forward to see the lastminute deals this year, nice update guys!
