Analyst “Absolutely Convinced” Wii HD is on the way

We didn’t believe much when analysts started forecasting a new DS in the very near future, yet there’s the DSi. Now Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter is “absolutely convinced” a Wii HD is on the way.
Citing Nintendo’s need to win back the core gamer market Pachter believes that a Wii HD would “really position Nintendo well, which is why I’m absolutely convinced there is a Wii HD coming”.
He went on to add “Businesswise, they can’t have people saying that their machine is a toy for my mom”, because apparently moms dont like more pixels.
Now its important to notice Mr. Pachter didn’t cite a specific date, which pretty much makes his point a moot one, Nintendo is without a doubt working on its next console and ever since the Wii’s launch Nintendo said that HD would be something that would have to wait for its next generation. So subscribing to Pachter’s school of forecasting I predict more Mario, Zelda and Pokemon games are on the way. Now where’s my analyst contract?

With tne Next Depression looming over us, how will the gaming industry will take it?
I think the gaming industry will only get bigger. You might NOT have new IP get developed due to cash crunches, but I think the big studios will try to milk everything they have, so I’m thinking more DLC. Wii HD is good, but I’m going to end up getting a PS3 for HD/Blu-ray needs.
Me thinks the game industry will try to actually focus on hardcore gaming since those gamers are more likely to go on a ramen/ bread sandwich diet to purchase a new hot title.
To be fair to Pachter, he has a the year pegged at 2010 or 2011.
Against Pachter: He’s been moving up that year every GameTrailer’s Bonus Round.
Wee will probably have the Wii lite or something. It will do the same thing, except it will have the dimensions of a DVD case and look shinier due to it being enriched with Uranium that will allow it to be taken and played anywhere without power.
